I used to be in a constant battle with my inner critic.
This manifested in my body as a feeling of tightness in my chest, a knot in my throat that wouldn’t go away and a constant sense of unease. It was like I was always rushing through life, trying to escape some elusive threat that I wasn’t aware of. Years of accumulated grief resulting from the death of a loved one and relationship heartbreak lead me to feeling utterly numb to life. It wasn’t until I found breathwork that I was able to turn to those buried emotions and breathe them up and out of my heart.
Grief is often about loss of something or someone significant. We tend to relate it to death, but it’s more than that. We can grieve the end of a romantic relationship, a friendship or a family relationship that no longer serves us.
We can grieve the loss of a job that gave us a sense of purpose and stability. We can grieve abrupt changes in our environment, like losing our home or moving to a different city. We can grieve who we used to be as we age and grow older. We can grieve the loss of our lifestyle if we are suddenly diagnosed with a health condition.
Loss is a part of life and it happens to everyone. We all carry more grief than we realize.
When we experience such profound pain and lack the tools to process it, our body’s natural reaction is to lock it in and numb it out. Our bodies contract around this unprocessed energy. Our breath becomes shallow. There is less energy available to live, play and engage with life.
We become heavier, denser, more serious. It becomes harder to tap into feelings of love, joy and excitement because we can’t seem to feel at all. It’s not until we are brave enough to sit with our emotions that we are able to restore that energy flow.
Breathwork has the unique capacity to bypass your thinking mind and land you in your body, where all of your grief lives.
It can be scary to go into those dark places where our pain lives, but I’m here to tell you that what’s on the other side is so worth it. You have to feel it to heal it.
Once you’ve bravely faced those tender spots, once you’ve given yourself the space to feel and grieve what you’ve lost in a supportive container, you will emerge stronger, more alive and more whole.
Grieving Together
Transmuting grief into love is a profound journey that requires bravery and faith. When traveling through uncharted waters, it’s important to not do it alone and to have a support system. I believe that being witnessed by people who see you and honor your truth is a key step in the healing process. In this container, we will be holding space for each other as we uncover hidden parts of ourselves and cheering each other on. I’m intentionally keeping this a small group, so that everyone has the chance to share on their experiences. It’s amazing how transformational it can be to simply say things out loud to a group of caring humans.

The Program

We begin this journey by acknowledging where we are. Here is where we start to look at the unprocessed grief that we have been avoiding. By sitting with any numbness you’ve been experiencing, you’ve started to unlock the healing process. As you bring more breath into your body, any feelings you’ve been denying begin to surface.

When people or circumstances wrong us, we will likely have an emotional reaction. It’s okay to feel anger, jealousy, indignation, envy, upset. But when we fail to fully process those feelings in real time, they sit in our bodies and turn into long-term resentment. Resentment is a form of grief, which blocks our hearts from experiencing love, joy and the universe’s blessings. Here we will give ourselves the opportunity to feel, acknowledging resentment for what it is and releasing all that tension from our bodies.

After we’ve released resentment, we are ready to let in forgiveness in its place. Here is where we let love and tenderness in places that were once hardened. We forgive those who did us wrong, left us, mislead us, neglected us or didn’t protect us. We forgive God/the universe for circumstances that were beyond our control. We make amends with the world and with ourselves. We make contact with our inner child and re-parent ourselves from a more loving place.

In our last week we ground into gratitude for everything that we’ve learned and processed together. We are ready to accept the present moment for what it is and live in the now. We work on de-shaming and being with our emotions, positive and negative. We witness the new inner space we’ve created together and contemplate the new opportunities that are ready to pour in. We call on a higher power for assistance as we are ready for a new chapter in our lives.

What if I’m not grieving anything?
Even if you haven’t recently suffered a big loss in your life, we all have unprocessed emotions and stagnant energy in our bodies that need some love and assistance. If you feel called to join, we’d love to have you.

What time are the live sessions? What if I can’t come?
The live sessions are on Thursdays at 7am PT / 10am ET. Although I encourage attending live, they will be recorded and made available for you to keep for a lifetime.
Do I need previous experience with breathwork to join?
This coaching container is appropriate for newbies or long-time breathwork students. We will go over the basics of breathwork in our first session for all of those who are brand new to the practice.
